10 ZeosLib
Coming in at number 10 an obscure bit
of backend programming, without which no copy of TurboCASH
would run. ZeosLib enables programming languages like Delphi and
Lazarus to communicate with Database in a fast and uniform manner.
This is most important because it keeps us free to change to any
database that we may wish to without having to redesign code.
9 Lazarus
This Free and Open Source Pascal
programming Language enables any developer to download free
components and begin programming in TurboCASH.
8 Thunderbird
Mozilla free Email client allows
community members to email leach other. This product can be extended
to include Calendaring features
7 FireFox
The worlds leading Open Source browser,
keeps giving us Internet Connectivity. A plethora of new entrants
into this market all seem to have ulterior motives of user lock in.
Firefox is the honest alternative to take back control of the web.
6 FileZilla
Here is simple utility to move files
between clients and servers. In areas of shaky bandwidth and outages,
Filezilla does the dirty work of ensuring that you can reconnect
bring in a complete file.
5 VirtueMart
This Joomla extension allows users to
run a web shop. The TurboCASH web shop is run on Virtuemart
and without this revenue for the project would deteriorate.
4 Open Office
The world's leading OS Office suite,
gives us free spreadsheets, word processing and presentations. All
the documentation for the the TurboCASH project is developed
in Open Office.
3 Wine
A windows emulator for Linux that has
enabled us to run crossplatform on the fastest growing Operating
system. This means that thousand of Linux users can now enjoy
TurboCASH unaltered. A commercial companion product allows
Apple users to enjoy the same facilities.
2 Firebird SQL
The product that
has completely altered the landscape of the TurboCASH project.
An SQL Database that enables massive multi user capabilities. This
gives TurboCASH the ability to work on high volume
applications. The Speed improvements that you have seen this years
are largely due to Firebird. Also Firebird Embedded is the core
technology that allow us to make TurboCASH Portable. TurboCASH
can now be installed and run anywhere.
1 Joomla
Our winner for 2008 is the Joomla!
Content Management system. This is the backend software that drives
turbocash.net. Our Forum, Our Shop our News Blogs, Our mailing
lists, even our Wiki is hosted under the Joomla Framework.
