I propose we take the following line with respect to TurboCASH and the Payroll industry:
TurboCASH is a General Ledger Accounting System. We are happy to deal
with transactions from Payroll systems on the understanding that we do
not endorse their validity, but we will require that these transactions
take a given - Open Source - import format. (Preferably TXF, but Also CSV.)
We will work with whoever meets our standards. No cutting palms,
swearing in blood or ritual killings of chickens needed. We make our
revenue you make yours. You make sure that your system is compatible
with the laws of your user's country. Users make sure you pay your Tax.
We can begin with the South African Market. We want others. If you have
a Payroll solution for another country and want to work with TurboCASH,
please contact Philip Copeman.
Right now we are prepared to endorse - Yellow Payroll, Devtron Payroll,
Spreadsheet Payroll and anyone else who will give us a clear import
option. Right now we sell Spreadsheet Payroll for an annual fee of R
300.
Now would you like to make the interface Open Source or Proprietary? My
suggestion is that when connecting to proprietary systems we should
charge the users. It is a clear signal to the pathway they are
following.
There are some technicalities for you to qualify for this endorsement:
If you are going to carry on programming in Basic you will need offer both of the following prefered in this order:
1) To open a Library capable of dealing directly with our Firebird
files. (To get Master Accounts etrc). The common language here is SQL.
or less prefereable #
2) A means of reading and writing to our Imports and Exports and the verifications that we require before importing data.
