Create Creditor Account to Take on Opening Balances

If you have many creditor accounts with outstanding balances, and if you wish to take-on opening balances for each accounting period, to utilise the ageing facility in TurboCASH, you need to create a Sundry Creditors Account.

When you enter the opening balances for the General Ledger Account, you will allocate the balance of your Creditors Control Account to this Sundry Creditors Account in the Creditors Ledger.

When the General Ledger opening balance batch is posted (updated) to the General Ledger, the Creditor’s Control will be updated in the General Ledger.

To Create a Sundry Creditors Account to Take-on Opening Balances:

  1. Click on the Edit→Accounts→Creditor menu option.
Keyboard Access - Keyboard Access: Press the Alt+E+A+C keys on your keyboard.
The Creditor Accounts Selection screen is displayed:
    Select Creditor Account
  2. Click on the New button. The Creditor Accounts (General Information tab) screen is displayed:

  3. A default account number will automatically be generated by TurboCASH in the Creditor code field. Enter a six-digit Account Number, if necessary.
Warning - The account number or code must not already exist in the Set of Books.

Note - The Account Number must be prefixed numerically, followed by five alpha or numeric characters. As with creditors, the numeric prefix can be used to group creditors according to your requirements. For example, use the prefix 1 to differentiate the creditors from the debtors, followed by the first five letters of the creditors’ name or any other combination to suit your requirements.

Note - If you have created a Set of Books (Advanced option), and have set the Account digits to 4-digits, you may enter a 7-digit Account code (a prefix followed by six characters).
If you have created a Set of Books (Advanced option), and have set the Account digits to 5-digits, you may enter a 8-digit Account code (a prefix followed by seven characters).

  4. Enter the name for your Creditor Opening Balances Account - (e.g. Creditor Opening Balances) and leave the rest of the fields on this screen (including the Remittance, Accounting Information and Contacts tabs) blank.
