Warren Weertman is an Associate at commercial law firm Bowman
Gilfillan, one of the largest South African corporate law firms with
operations in Sandton (Johannesburg), Cape Town and London. He writes:
"A massive 35% of all computer software used in the South
African economy is thought to be unlicensed or pirated. This equates
to a staggering annual loss to the economy of R1,5 billion. Recent studies have suggested that if the software piracy rate was
reduced by 10%, this would result in an additional spend of R6
billion in the IT sector, plus the creation of more than 1,000
high-income jobs."

correct you. I am sure you are a competent corporate lawyer and from
the tone of your writing, you undoubtedly number Commercial Software
companies among your clients, but please stay off the voodoo
economics and really think it through before you blurt it out....
